Day 5: Motivation to Exercise

I know I really need to do some serious exercise. I used to be ultra-active in sports - swimming. Back in grade school, high school and college I am part of the swimming team. I could even do the stair climbing exercise. To describe it, my coach would let us climb the stairs of the 5-storey school building up and down several times. I think I was breathless but I was able to do it. Now, whenever I climb stairs I am grasping for air. It is really a sign that I am not fit. And, I really need to start exercising.

I used to be super looking forward to my swim training. Right now, I am super lazy to go to a gym. I've been a member of a local fitness center - "Fitness First". I've been paying the monthly dues for a year now. But, I only have been to the gym for the first three months. Now, I am motivating myself to go to the gym starting tomorrow.

I am reflecting why I am so lazy to go to the gym. Or, why I can't stick to my exercise regimen. Perhaps, I was trying to do a lot of things at the same time? Okay, I figure that I would take things slow this time. No need to hurry about doing all things and try all the exercise available. I should choose an activity that I enjoy and start slowing and increase the intensity gradually. Instead of aiming to go to the gym everyday, I should start with exercising 3 times a week for 20 minutes and work it up to at least 30 to 60 minutes then 4 to 6 times a week. I will keep in mind that exercise is a good way to curb appetite and burn calories.
